City Life & Village Life (By Abigail)

Living in a thriving, urban city compared to living in a remote village in Africa is probably considered as complete opposites; but there are a few similarities. for example, both living conditions have some kind of communication among themselves and with the surrounding cities or villages. The language may differ, or the communication system may vary; but communication is present. Another comparison to be made is transportation within a community. While a bustling city would have subways (although not in Kenya) and automobiles, a rural village's main mode for transportation is one's own feet or a bicycle. The last and perhaps the most important similarity is the fact that they all need the Gospel. Whether a person is a rich businessman or a Maasai warrior does not matter; they both have a choice of either to spend their eternity in burning flames or in glorious mansions in heaven. In conclusion, life in a large economic center or in a rural African village can be comparable in many ways.

God says in His Word that anyone who simply asks God to save him, he will be saved. But how can one ask God unless he is told of the plan of salvation? Those that spread the Gospel have the blessings of God upon them.

God Created Some Intelligent Animals (By Breanne)

God created some incredibly intelligent animals, they may be sharks or dauphins; to God all of the animals are special. For example, the elephant, with its feet, can sense and interpret sound waves, as they travel through the ground. On the other hand, the shark, with its acute sense of smell, can detect the scent of blood from many miles away. The brain of the dolphin is very large; at a quick motion from the trainer's hand the dolphin is able to perform flips, twirls, and dives, in the water and high in the air. Chimpanzees can be trained to act like a person; they can eat at the table, wear clothes, and undertake other human-like gestures. Each one of God's creatures display His unique method of designing the intellects of these creatures in order for them to survive.

In my school I just finished my science book, and I am going on to health. And I am so excited too. I have been learning about a variety of vertebrates like: birds, fish, snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodilians, frogs, and salamanders.

We have been learning Swahili. I like talking to my friends in Swahili. They like to talk to me in English. So I talk in Swahili and they talk in English, and we have lots of fun playing together. I have some pen pals at Jacksonville Christian Academy (our home church's school), and I want tell them some of the words I have learned.

kutaka - means "to want"
maji - means "water"
nipe - means "give me" (this is the polite way to say it)
chini - means "down"
juu - means "up"

In science class, I have been learning of the vastness of the universe, yet it is so orderly, so neat and precise. The universe is made of uncountable galaxies, but they are not randomly tossed into the heavens but organized into clusters and groups. Each galaxy is not just a random group of stars, but organized into an elliptical or spiral shape. Every galaxy is then divided into solar systems, like our own. Then each solar system is divided to a main star then planets, comets, and asteroids. Our great universe could not just come about; it could not have evolved; as Isaac Newton said “I am compelled to ascribe the frame of this system to an intelligent Agent.” This Agent that Newton speaks is God.
